CCAT Conference
Creatives for Climate Action - Thailand (CCAT) is a pivotal conference that will unite European and Thai stakeholders in the creative industry to promote sustainability and climate action in the cultural sector in Thailand and will take place from June 26-27, 2024, at the Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC) in Bangkok.
Creatives for Climate Action - Thailand is a project by the EUNIC Cluster Thailand that is supported by Alliance Française, British Council, Goethe-Institut, Camões - Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, the Embassies of Austria, Italy, Luxembourg and Spain as well as the EUNIC Cluster Fund. EUNIC – European Union National Institutes for Culture – is Europe’s network of national cultural institutes and organizations, with 39 members from all EU Member States. The event is co-organized with Creative Migration (International Arts Organization) in collaboration with the Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization).
The conference aims to facilitate knowledge sharing among European and Thai cultural practitioners to exchange sustainability best practices. The conference will also focus on developing a detailed toolkit to aid in creating and promoting sustainable cultural events. Additionally, it seeks to build networks by fostering new collaborations among EUNIC members and Thai stakeholders. Finally, the conference aims to raise public awareness about sustainable practices through engaging and interactive sessions.
Following the CCAT conference, the Entertainment + Culture Pavilion will take its first steps into the Asia-Pacific region with its kick-off Bangkok pavilion and its roadmap to COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, later this year. E+C Pavilion is co-designing two days of programming including panel discussions, workshops and performances, all focused on the intersection of environmental sustainability and cultural practices.
Bangkok 1899
is a new cultural and civic hub established by Creative Migration, a women-of-color-led, international arts organization based in Los Angeles and Bangkok. Our mission is to bring together cultural and climate diplomacy with a special focus on collaborative community building through intersectional practices.Bangkok 1899 opened its doors in 2019 with founding support from the Ford Philanthropy and The Rockefeller Foundation.
Current Artist-in-Residence
Sarah Rara
Sarah Rara is a multidiscplinary artist and poet working with video, sound, performance and installation, to explore the position of witness within fragile systems. They are a contributing member of the ongoing project lucky dragons (with Luke Fischbeck). Their work, solo and in collaboration, have been presented at institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art (as part of the 2008 Whitney Biennial), London’s Institute for Contemporary Art, PS1 in New York, and LACMA in Los Angeles. They are also currently an Assistant Professor of Moving Image at Williams College.
